Sunset
April is here, the rain has come along with the welcoming of Spring. When we return from break we head into our assessment season with Smarter Balanced Assessments happening in 3rd – 5th. To support our Sunset staff, students and community as we end out this school year...
Spring can be exciting—but also a little overwhelming! With testing, schedule changes, and end-of-year energy, it’s important to help our students manage stress in healthy ways.

Here are some important dates coming up:
- April 10th - 4th Grade Recorder Concert
- April 14 - 18th - Spring Break - No School
- April 22nd - Earth Day - Spirit day - Wear Green and Blue
- April 29th - 3rd Grade Music Concert
Beginning in late April this year, all grade 3-5 students will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. Grade 5 students will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science. Read more on dates and absences.

Families of students in the Multi-Language Learners (MLL) program in grades 2 and 3; and families of students who participate in the Extended School Year (ESY) program in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to register for one of two summer school STEAM Camp sessions. Details enclosed.
What is that app my child is using? In 2025, children are using a variety of apps for social media, gaming, education, and entertainment. Today we're sharing information for parents and guardians about some of the apps teens may be using.
Transition to Kindergarten (TK) is a free Pre-K program that focuses on social-emotional skills, learning habits, and kindergarten readiness goals to prepare our youngest learners for their educational journey. Eligibility is determined through the application and screening process. Space is limited, and priority enrollment is given to families impacted by limited household income and students who demonstrate the most need for additional preparation. We encourage families to apply soon.
