Student Story Sparks Meaningful Connection
When one young author from Sunset Elementary wrote a story about why we need police officers, it sparked a special moment of connection — bringing together student creativity, school leadership, and the power of partnership within our district. ![]()
“One of my second grade students wrote a story about why police are important," Principal Kathy Keegan said. "I was so proud of him that I invited Neil to come so the student could read it to him,”
District Lead Security Officer Neil Lasher said the moment was a highlight of his career.
“This was a pretty fun experience, to say the least! In my 22-plus years in the ISD, I have never been invited to listen to a book written by a student. Gianni is a great author and speaker,” Lasher said.
“I may also have been told that Gianni has another book in the works. I wonder what he has in store next?” he added. “Keep up the great work, Gianni!” ![]()
