On February 2, Sockeye readers K-5 celebrated World Read Aloud Day by zooming with local author Martha Brockenbrough. Martha read aloud her book This Old Dog then answered student questions. Martha encouraged students that even if reading feels hard, books are for them. She also shared writing tips and tricks that connect to the writing work students are doing in their classrooms, including strategies for coming up with ideas, and ways to stay inspired and use persistence when you are stuck on a project.
